Anne Bradley
Author
Anne is an English writer, researcher, and lecturer who has lived in Aotearoa since her twenties. Her experiences as an immigrant have influenced her understanding of place, belonging and the stories that connect us.
Her children enjoyed a barefoot childhood in a seaside community, with school life enriched by kapa haka, a rugby club run by the local marae, and the generous friendships of the tangata whenua which are reflected in this story, as are her own childhood memories of life aboard her father’s old wooden sailing yacht.
Her work is shaped by a commitment to values-driven education, narrative research, and life writing. She seeks to act as an ally and witness to the enduring legacies of colonisation in contemporary life. Anne lectures in Research Methods and supervises Master of Management theses, with published work in human resource management, education, and creative nonfiction. Her writing explores themes of immigrant identity, grief, and transformation, often drawing on the power of story to illuminate the experiences of those navigating complex cultural landscapes. The Water and the Night is her first novel.
