I love writing poetry and fiction. Over the past couple of decades I’ve published six poetry collections, four novels, and five books of short fiction, as well as numerous chapbooks.

I’ve also edited a number of books and journals, including a trilogy of New Zealand Poets in Performance audio/text anthologies (Auckland University Press, 2006-8), Poetry New Zealand (2014-19), and Mike Johnson’s Selected Poems (2023).

I retired from my job teaching Creative Writing at Massey University in 2021, but I and my wife, crafter and art-writer Bronwyn Lloyd, continue to live and work in sunny Mairangi Bay.

I’ve published two books with Lasavia so far: Ghost Stories (2019) and Haunts (2024). As the titles suggest, the supernatural is a subject of great interest to me, along with book-collecting, cat worship, and travel.
