Jameson Alex West
Writer
Jameson Alex West is a New Zealand born writer, currently residing in Oslo, Norway. He is the author of three books, a novel Tenure as a Statistician (2017) and two creative nonfiction collections The Cursed Bus and Other Writings (2020) and Banish the Thinker and Other Writings (2021).
In 2018, he meticulously transcribed his grandfather’s calligraphic five-year World War II diaries and released them as a book, Spitfires and Spots. A voracious reader, he has no formal education which is a key element in his writing inspiration. While his pet loves are spicy food and hot weather, due to unforeseen circumstances, he lives in one of the world’s coldest and darkest places. The silver lining is that the calm long nights provide him with the perfect writing atmosphere. He has two young sons who are teaching him how to be a polyglot. He also works manual jobs in stage and food production, and for fifteen years has owned and operated JJCROSSBAT books, an online second-hand bookshop.
